A filter (23) for a cartridge used in preparing a liquid solution for a medical procedure, has a slit-shaped opening with a first extension and a second extension that is perpendicular to the flow direction and to the first extension. The second extension is significantly shorter than the first extension. A filter for a cartridge (9) used in preparing a liquid solution for a medical procedure, comprises a hollow body (24) defined by a wall (50) enclosing a cavity of the body. The body has two ends (52, 53). It is provided with slit-shaped opening(s) (55) extending through the wall. The first end is open and adapted for receiving liquid to be introduced into the cartridge, which liquid leaves the filter through the slit-shaped opening in a flow direction. The slit-shaped opening has a first extension and a second extension that is perpendicular to the flow direction and to the first extension. The second extension is significantly shorter than the first extension. An independent claim is also included for a system for preparing a liquid solution for a medical procedure, comprising a cartridge, three liquid conduits, and the above filter.
