The helmet is placed on top of a model head which in turn is secured to a base part via a mounting part provided with instruments. The mounting part includes a flexible section secured to the base part, which has a rigidity and damping chosen so that it simulates the human neck. The flexible section comprises a soft part made from e.g. rubber. The section of the mounting part secured to the head is used to support the instrumentation comprising a six component sensor for recording force and momentum vectors transmitted to the head.
