Optimizing effect of e.g. patch antenna to reduce signal loss, by comparing antenna signal damping values obtained for different distances between antenna radiant surface and casing wall
The signal transmitted or received by the antenna (1a, 1b) is dampened whilst changing the distance between the antenna radiant surface (3a, 3b) and the casing wall (4), the radiant surface being kept parallel to this wall. The distance corresponding to the lowest damping value is selected. A method for optimizing the effect of at least one antenna (e.g. patch antenna) for mounting inside a casing (2) comprises the following steps: (a) positioning each radiant surface on the antenna so that it extends parallel to one of the casing walls; (b) damping a signal transmitted or received by the antenna with a given frequency for a number of different distance values corresponding to the distance between the casing wall and radiant surface; (c) comparing the damping values obtained for these distance values; and (d) selecting the distance value corresponding to the lowest damping value.
