PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch directivity as required and to selectively send out illumination light by setting the directivity to a first outgoing direction by first illumination light and a second outgoing direction by second illumination light. SOLUTION: Primary light sources 3A, 3B are arranged on the side of first and second light guide boards 7A, 7B respectively. A reflecting sheet 8, the first light guide board 7A, the second light guide board 7B, a prism sheet 9 and a light diffusing sheet 10 are laminated in sequence to form a light source device 1. The light guide board 7A decreases the incidence angle of the illumination light entering an outgoing plane 7AO and sends out the illumination light with sharp directivity in the normal line of the outgoing plane 7AO when the directivity is seen in the in-plane direction along an incidence plane 7AI. The light guide board, 7B receives the illumination light from the primary light source 3B and repeatedly reflects and propagates the illumination light LB between an outgoing plane 7BO and a back plane 7BR. The prism sheet 9 corrects the directivity of the illumination light from the light guide board 7B and the illumination light transmitting the light guide board 7B from the light guide board 7A respectively.
