I want to remove the background noise from the digital image of the document that has been [problem] scan. (Image before storage), with the statistical data, to derive a background noise elimination tone map function during the first phase, during the second phase of the process according to the present invention comprises, (image storage after in), with a tone map that has been derived in the first phase, to perform the background noise removal. Specifically, during the first stage, statistical data obtained from the document image data scanned from the statistical data, the background noise removal function tone map for the entire image is derived. The tone map function and image data are stored. By during the second stage, based on the user's selection, it retrieves the tone map function and image data, and converts the pixel values of the digital image using the tone mapping function, the background noise is removed.
