PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a koto string made of resin, which has excellent durability and timbre and allows a manufacturing process to be simplified. PSOLUTION: The koto string consists of a multi-section synthetic resin monofilament having double-leaf or more sections, and it is preferable that an area ratio R expressed by R=SSB2/SB/SSB1/SBis 0.2 to 0.8, wherein SSB1/SBis the area of a circle circumscribed to a sectional shape of the multi-leaf-section synthetic resin monofilament and SSB2/SBis the actual area of a section of the string.
