PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a base for plant growth using wood wastes, by which reduction in qualities is prevented by preventive measure of deformation and improvement in releasability and a production time is shortened. PSOLUTION: The method for producing the base for plant growth comprises a mixing process P10 for mixing a vegetable fine matter 20 such as a ground material of timber, with an adhesive 30 to give a mixture 50, a packing process P22 for arranging (P21) releasable sheetlike materials for preventing adhesion of molds to top and bottom surfaces of the mixture 50 and packing the mixture 50 to the molding molds and a heating process P30 for heating the mixture 50 packed in the molds with steam.
