PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a regeneration method for an electrochemical device for regenerating damaged solid electrolyte film and to provide the electrochemical device capable of preventing damage of the solid electrolyte film. PSOLUTION: In this regeneration method for the electrochemical device provided with the solid electrolyte film 1, an anode 4 joined with one face of the solid electrolyte film 1 and provided with a catalyst layer 2 and a gas diffusion layer 3 in this order from a solid electrolyte film side and a cathode 7 joined with the other face of the solid electrolyte film 1 and provided with a catalyst layer 5 and a gas diffusion layer 6 in this order from the solid electrolyte film side, first substance is supplied to the anode 4, and second substance polymerized with the first substance is supplied to the cathode 7. The first substance and the second substance are polymerized by catalyst in the catalyst layer of at least either of the anode 4 and the cathode 7 to form polymer resin, and a hole opening part existent in the solid electrolyte film is blocked.
