A method for disposing of electrical apparatus comprises the steps of (a) manually dismantling the apparatus and segregating circuit boards, metals, plastics, and glass components, (b) processing the plastics materials into usable products, (c) segregating the different scrap metals and processing them into reusable forms, (d) mechanically separating the electronic components from the circuit boards, (e) crushing and melting the glass, (f) separating contaminants from the glass, (g) mixing the electrical components and other non-usable waste with the molten glass, and (h) solidifying the molten glass to form ingots in which the electronic components are encapsulated. The ingots are preferably used as aggregate or bulk filler in the construction industry. A further method is disclosed in which electrical apparatus is dismantled and separated into glass and non-glass components, the glass component being crushed and melted to encapsulate the non-glass component.
