The satellite has a platform (20) with a ground face (24), and a laser device that measures atmospheric parameters of a laser and emits laser impulses in the atmosphere. The platform presents a lengthened shape in a sense of vector path of the satellite. A reception device has a collecting surface (26) with collectors to optimize combination from the altitude of the satellite, laser power and area of the surface. The ground face faces ground when the satellite is in an orbit at a given altitude. The collecting surface has a fixed surface to receive a luminous flow reflected by the atmosphere.
