The system has a focus evaluation value determining device to determine a focus evaluation value. A lens (12) device automatically adjusts a focus of a shooting lens for an in-focus state according to the evaluation value. An output device outputs the evaluation value and focus position of the shooting lens at the time of determination of the focus evaluation value. Preferably the output device transmits the focus evaluation value and the focus position by serial communication to a connected peripheral device. An Independent claim is also included for a focus information display apparatus.
