Liquid or gas inverse chromatography is used to circulate a fluid containing a solution of the solid to be analyzed to create adsorption for a fraction of the solution by the surface. The fraction adsorbed during a defined time period is determined and the value of at least one physico-chemical parameter is deduced corresponding to the state of the surface of the solid. The equipment includes a sealed analysis container (4) to contain the solid (5), with the fluid flowing through it so it circulates across the surface of the solid to allow adsorption. There is also means (2) of supplying the fluid carrying the solution, means (3) of injecting the solution into the carrying fluid, means (6) of detecting the fraction of solution adsorbed during the defined time period and means (7) of treating the data to determine the parameter. The analysis container has a circulation pipe (9) for the fluid, extending over at least half of the solid surface in a predetermined design. The circulation pipe has at least one rectilinear, zigzag within a square or rectangle, or spiral section. The analysis container has at least one support plate fixed to the solid to define between them at least part of the circulation pipe. The analysis container can hold two samples on one or two support plates, with part of the circulation pipe defined between them. The analysis container has an intercalated leaf carrying the circulation pipe. The design of the circulation pipe is formed on the support plate(s) using impression or engraving, or in the intercalated leaf by cutting. The support plate(s) and/or intercalated plate are made of inert metal with negligible adsorption capacities relative to the surface of the solid being tested in the defined conditions. An inlet (45a) and an outlet (45b) open into the circulation pipe and are designed to be connected to the fluid supply and/or means of injection and/or means of detection. The inlet and outlet have connectors and are made in the support plate(s), between the plate(s) and the sample(s). The support plate(s) have a geometric shape complementary to that of the surface of the solid being analyzed, or are made of a flexible material which adapts itself to the surface of the solid being analyzed.
