In a process to make a molecular absorbent molecular sieve medium, the surface pore size of Zeolite (NaA) is modified by the application of alkoxide at room temperature and pressure. The Zeolite A is activated by heating for 3-4 hr at 350 to 450C. The Zeolite A is then cooled in a vacuum of 1 x 10-2 to 1 x 10-4 mm Hg, before flushing with tetra-alkyl orthosilicate in a dry solvent at a concentration of 0.1 to 1.0 % weight by volume for 4 - 8 hr under continuous mixing. At this stage the solvent is recovered for re-use. The resulting Zeolite is dried in air under static conditions and at a temperature of 25 to 35C. The modified Zeolite is heated for 3-8 hr to a temperature of 450 to 600C and then cooled to room temperature under static conditions. After pre-activation by heat at 350 to 450C, the modified Zeolite then absorbs oxygen, nitrogen and argon in a static volumetric system.
