Vinyl ester, for lacquers and coating agents, is prepared by reaction of an epoxide with 0.7-0.9 moles of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid and 0.1-0.3 moles of a saturated carboxylic acid (with respect to the epoxide equivalent)
A vinyl ester (I), prepared by reaction of at least one epoxide with a carboxylic acid, is prepared by reaction of the epoxide with 0.7-0.9 moles of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid and 0.1-0.3 moles of a saturated carboxylic acid (with respect to the epoxide equivalent). Independent claims are included for: (1) a process for the production of the vinyl ester (I) by optionally reacting the reaction product of the epoxide with 0.7-0.9 moles of an ethylneically unsaturated carboxylic acid and 0.1-0.3 moles of a saturated carboxylic acid with an optionally unsaturated polybasic acid anhydride whereby the reactions are optionally carried out using a solvent, a catalyst and optionally other additives and; (2) a lacquer composition (II) for the production of printed circuits comprising the vinyl ester (I).
