Microscope for observation of an object (1) has optics for generating an image of the object, said optics including a mirror surface (7) in the in the observation beam path. The surface of the mirror is matched to the surface of the object being observed so that imaging errors due to the spatial extension of the object can be balanced out. In particular the shape of the mirror surface is the inverse of the shape of the observed object.
