Microscope, especially a surgical microscope, has a mirror in the beam path that has a shape that is approximately the inverse of that of an observed spherical or cylindrical object so that the apparent focal depth is increased
Microscope for observation of an object (1) has optics for generating an image of the object, said optics including a mirror surface (7) in the in the observation beam path. The surface of the mirror is matched to the surface of the object being observed so that imaging errors due to the spatial extension of the object can be balanced out. In particular the shape of the mirror surface is the inverse of the shape of the observed object.
