Two current-voltage characteristic lines of the photovoltaic module are acquired and used to determine the series internal resistance. Only the first of the lines is actually measured. The second is determined by a simulation of the irradiation intensity reduction. The measured short circuit current Isc1 and current at maximum power Ipmax1 of the first characteristic line are used to determine the short circuit current Isc2 and current at maximum power Ipmax2 for the second characteristic line through reduction by a standard current reduction factor fi.
