The linear motor consists of a first sub-system with a multi-strand winding forming the stator and a second sub-system with a moving magnet system forming the movable component. The stator does not have a magnetic short-circuit so that damping cause by magnetic reversing losses are eliminated and hence very highly dynamic characteristics are achieved.
