Method for planning and generating planar magnetic resonance tomography, MRT, overview images using an MRT unit with a non-linear gradient system has the following steps: generation of an MRT overview image; correction of the image on the basis of non-linear deviations; calculation of differences in the corrected image; calculation of an MR sequence with an HF excitation coil; and recording of at least one planar image view by carrying out the calculated MR sequence. The invention also relates to a corresponding MRT unit for method implementation.
