Transmission bandwidth needed for ensuring a maximum acceptable or lower waiting time is determined through iterative approximation with the use of a device by means of a computer-aided simulation of the randomly distributed entry of different network loading conditions. A network operator or a service provider of available client use profiles is used as a basis. The allowed waiting time is the maximum accepted by users of a related service. Data volume for a single message from the service is known. An Independent claim is also included for a device for rating the workload of data transmission channels in a data transmission network.
