A structure for protecting buildings, especially nuclear power plants, against aircraft attack, comprises a protective wall (1) spaced from the building (3). The wall converts the impulse of a high speed aircraft mass into aircraft components of lower speed and large wall components. The aircraft and wall components do not reach the building. The wall has tensioning members anchored in the ground, and vertical posts (11).
