Instrumentation for measuring the force applied by cyclist to a cycle comprises a force sensor (3, 3') in the saddle region or on the saddle support bar (8). The sensor signal is transmitted to an evaluation unit, e.g. on the handlebars, where it is processed and output to a display (5). An Independent claim is made for a method for measuring the force applied by a cyclist to a cycle using a force sensor in the saddle or saddle support. The determined force can be used to optimize cycling parameters.
