Method for acquisition of driving data from a motor vehicle, in which dynamic signals relating to driving behavior in the longitudinal direction and corresponding signals relating to driving behavior in the transverse direction are input to and used in a three dimensional kinematic motor vehicle model, which is then used for reconstruction of vehicle movement. The invention also relates to a corresponding computer program and computer program product. Accordingly existing signal capturing instrumentation, e.g. for adaptive cruise control or for vehicle electronic stability programs can be recorded and stored in an accident data recorder and used in the event of an accident.
