Applicator mechanism is for direct application of liquid or paste coating on running paper or board web and minimizes impact of air boundary layer through profiled counter surface
The paper or board web runs over a counter surface (2.1) and is associated with at least one applicator (A), which dispenses the medium on the web (B). The counter surface features parallel or spiral grooves to create flow ducts for an air boundary layer to be removed. The grooves have a quadrangular, trapezoid, wedge-shaped or corrugated cross section.
