A data-processing device (70) cooperates with an appropriately pre-configured database (78) as necessary. By taking into account pre-determined, objective evaluatory criteria during simultaneous continuous simulation of different scenarios and other freely selectable parameters, other devices (76) facilitate a systematically forward-directed evaluation of a total system/process solution. The other devices use generation, evaluation, comparison and selection of a defined combination of pre-determined partial solutions to facilitate a systematically forward-directed evaluation of a total system/process solution optimized according to need. An independent claim is also included for a method for evaluating cost-intensive systems, process or product solutions.
