FERROELECTRIC LIQUID CRYSTAL COMPOUND FOR INCREASING RESPONSE RATE OF LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE, LIQUID CRYSTAL COMPOSITION COMPRISING THE SAME AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME
PURPOSE: A ferroelectric liquid crystal compound is provided to obtain a liquid crystal display device showing a high response rate of several tens microseconds or less, to allow computing using light and to permit the contrast of 300:1. CONSTITUTION: The ferroelectric compound is represented by the following formula 1. In formula 1, R1 is CnH2n+1, wherein n is an integer of 1-10; A is selected from the group consisting of COO, CH2CH2 and CH2O; and ring B is selected from following formula 2. The liquid crystal display device comprises: a first substrate; a second substrate facing to the first substrate; transparent electrode layers, each formed on the first and the second substrates; aligning layers, each formed on the top of each transparent electrode layer; and a liquid crystal layer formed between the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the liquid crystal layer comprises the ferroelectric compound represented by formula 1.
