Methods for preparing optically active heteroatom-substituted primary and secondary amines from their racemates include,;a) heteroatom-substituted racemic amines are reacted with an enantiomerically selective acylation reaction of an acid component in the presence of a hydrolytic enzyme using an ester containing a fluorine, nitrogen, phosphorus, oxygen or sulfur atom near the carbonyl carbon ,;b) separating a mixture of optically active heteroatom-substituted amine and optically active heteroatom-substituted and acylated amine to obtain an enantiomer of a heteroatom-substituted amine,;c) optionally separating other enantiomers of heteroatom-substituted amines from heteroatom-substituted and acylated amines by amide separation methods.
