PURPOSE: Provided are a preparation of pine needle extract by dry distillation and the pine needle extract obtained thereby. The pine needle extract has light yellow color and is used for medicines and foods. CONSTITUTION: The preparation of pine needle extract by dry distillation comprises the steps of: dry distilling pine needles at 150-300 deg.C for 8-16 hours in a vacuum sealed container such as an autoclave; cooling gas generated by the dry distillation to liquifying it; subjecting the liquid to layer separation into an upper layer containing pine resin, a water soluble middle layer and a lower layer containing tar components and wastes; and separating the water soluble middle layer showing light yellow color.
