PURPOSE: Provided is a reagent for removing hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide in the synthesis gas, which removes such acidic gases simultaneously without decreasing the temperature of synthesis gas so as to purify the synthesis gas to a degree suitable to be used for methanol preparation. CONSTITUTION: The reagent is used for removing hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide contained in the synthesis gas generated from gasification of waste plastics for the purpose of preparing methanol from the synthesis gas. The reagent comprises 5-20 wt% of calcium and is heat-treated at a temperature of 850-1100 deg.C. The reagent optionally further comprises 1-10 wt% of strontium oxide.
