The objectives of this invention are to provide a luminescent compound capable of emitting white light by itself, and an illuminator and organic EL element that emit white light by the employment of the luminescent compound. The illuminator and the organic EL element are capable of emitting white light at a strong luminance for a long time. ??The luminescent compound is represented by the following formula (1) or (2): CHEM CHEM The illuminator and the organic EL element comprise a substrate on which an electrode has been formed and a luminescent layer including the compound, said luminescent layer being placed on the substrate.
