PURPOSE: A method for converting a background screen of a video phone terminal is provided to convert a call background screen into a desired moving image or a still image while having a conversation on the phone through a video phone call, so that a user can call other party without exposing a current position of the user. CONSTITUTION: A user registers as a member to receive an additional service(S100). A background screen synthetic server stores member information and terminal information, and stores background screen information(S110). If a call is requested for each member based on a situation selection signal(S120), the background screen synthetic server reads background screen information prestored for a receiver(S130), and synthesizes image information of the receiver with the read background screen information(S140). The background screen synthetic server transmits the synthesized image information to an originating video phone terminal(S150). The receiver makes a video call with an originator(S160).
