PURPOSE: An approximate-optimal MIMO(Multi-Input Multi-Output) channel detection through an SMC(Sequential Monte Carlo) method is provided to attain excellent, stable performance with an SMC MIMO demodulator, compared with a statistical demodulator. CONSTITUTION: A soft MIMO demodulator(210) selects a received signal given by a certain equation as an input, besides external information transmitted to a channel decoder(260). A previous symbol probability is calculated by a symbol probability calculator(220). A bit LLR(Log-Likelihood Ratios) computer(240) calculates posthumous LLRs of an interleaved code bit(bn(i)) based on a posthumous symbol probability that is calculated by the soft demodulator(210). The posthumous LLRs of the code bit(bn(i)) are calculated by the channel decoder(260), interleaved by an interleaver(230), and then, fed back to the soft MIMO demodulator(210). The external information that has been delivered by the soft MIMO demodulator(210) is deinterleaved by a deinterleaver(250) and then fed back as previous information to the channel decoder(260). The soft demodulator(210) takes the previous LLRs of the code bit as an input and delivers updated LLRs of the information bit as an output. The output of the soft demodulator(210) is the sum of the previous information and the external information delivered by the channel decoder(260). At the end of turbo repetition, the posthumous LLRs of the code bit is fed back to a MIMO channel estimator(270) from the soft channel decoder(260) through an interleaver(280), for channel re-estimation.
