PURPOSE: A system and method for updating a mobile platform of a mobile communication terminal using a wireless communication are provided to allow a user to access a download server to select and download required software. CONSTITUTION: A user of a terminal determines whether to access a download server through a mobile communication network or a Bluetooth(S300). If the user selects the mobile communication network, he/she selects a mobile platform update service(S301) and connects to a mobile communication data network(S302). When the user accesses the download server(S320), mutual authentication is performed(S330). The terminal transmits a terminal operating system, a mobile platform version and mobile configuration information to the download server(S340). The download server determines whether updating is required(S350). If updating is required, the download server informs the user about it(S360) and receives a mobile platform update request acknowledgement from the user(S370). Downloading of a mobile platform program and checking an error of a transmitted file are performed between the download server and the terminal(S380). The terminal installs the received program and tests it(S390).
