PURPOSE: Provided is a heat sensitive expandable material, which has a thickness increased remarkably by heating, is prepared with ease, and shows excellent sealability, heat insulation property and noise-protecting property. CONSTITUTION: The heat sensitive expandable material comprises a foamable composition including: (a) 100 parts by weight of a crosslinkable polymer material, and (b) 5-300 parts by weight of a crystalline thermoplastic resin having an oxygen atom in the molecule. The heat sensitive expandable material is obtained by the method comprising the steps of: molding the foamable composition into a desired shape; crosslinking and foaming the molded composition; heating the foamed product at a temperature higher than the melting point of the resin (b) to compress it; and cooling the compressed product at a temperature lower than the melting point of the resin (b).
