PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method are provided to measure thrust variation by measuring deformation of a thrust pad after attaching Wheatstone bridge-type strain gauges to a side of the thrust pad. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of Wheatstone bridge-type strain gauges(2) is attached to a side of a thrust pad(1) so as to measure thrust variation. A thin film is welded to a thrust block through a spot welding process in order to protect connection signal lines withdrawn from the Wheatstone bridge-type strain gauges. The connection signal lines are withdrawn out of a main frame through a hole formed in the main frame. Then, the thrust pad equipped with the strain gauges is corrected by using a loader before the thrust pad is installed in the main frame. The signal lines are converted into electric signals through a bridge transducer(4) and the electric signals are amplified through an amplifier(5).
