In a board game based on the instruments of chess and using rules of Shogi (Japanese chess), each piece has an upper portion (101) and a pedestal (103) which can be disconnected from each other. Black and white pedestals (103) are prepared and the number of pedestals is equal to or more than the number of the piece upper portions (101). A distinguishing ring (105) is arranged at outer circumference of the pedestal (103). By moving the position of the distinguishing ring (105), it is possible to adjust the presence/absence of coverage of the distinguishing portion arranged on the piece upper portion (101). This type of pieces for the board game can easily be accepted by people who are not accustomed to Shogi and can easily be manufactured, enabling stable supply. A set of pieces and the board game are also disclosed.
