The invention concerns an earring system consisting of an earring (1) and anassociated template (2) for optimally adapting the earring (1) to the earlobe. The earring (1) comprises a U-shaped recess (5) whereof the width (7) isslid from down upwards on the ear lobe (16) to be adorned. The thickness ofthe ear lobe (16) receives exactly said recess (5) when the lobe is drawndownwards. Instead of adapting the recess (5) directly to the measuredthickness, an insert of corresponding thickness can be introduced in saidrecess. The adequate width (7) is determined by means of a template (2)consisting of a plurality of individual models (3), which models (3) compriseopenings (8) with staged cross-sections (12) and tabs (9) whereof thethickness (13) corresponds to the width concerned (7). The measurement of theear lobe (16) to be adorned once it is drawn by means of the individual gauges(3) enables the determination of the suitable earring (1) among a plurality ofearrings provided with U-shaped recesses (5) with different widths (7)
