The composite polyamide reverse osmosis membrane comprises a polyamide layer and a hydrophilic coating provided sequentially on a microporous support. The hydrophilic coating is formed by applying a polyfunctional epoxy compound having at least two epoxy groups, on polyamide layer and cross-linking such that a water-insoluble polymer is formed. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) method for forming a coated composite polyamide reverse osmosis membrane; (2) microporous membrane; and (3) method of producing coated microporous membrane.
