A suspension of fibrinogen, thrombin, alcohol, and optionally aprotinin is prepared by mixing fibrinogen in alcohol with thrombin in alcohol. Suspension contains particles of fibrinogen and thrombin with an average diameter of Folk Ward in the range of 25-100 microns. Thrombin can be human, bovine or recombinant. Fibrinogen can be human or recombinant. A method for coating a carrier, such as a collagen sponge, said suspension, and a method for drying the coating are described. The coated collagen carrier can be used as a ready-to-use absorbable composition for sealing and closure of tissues and hemostasis. The carrier is coated with solid, fixed components of fibrin glue, i.e. fibrinogen and thrombin. The international search report was published 2002.10.31.
