"BENZOPHENONE DERIVATIVE, PREVENTIVE OR THERAPEUTIC AGENT FOR A DISEASE INVOLVING EXPRESSIVE AP-1 AND AP-1 INHIBITOR". Because they have an anti-arthritic effect, inhibiting arthritis-induced bone fracture, and because they are highly safe, benzophenone derivatives represented by the following general formula, or salts thereof, are remedies for arthritis with favorable dynamics in vivo: where R ^ 1 R 2 represents, for example, an optionally substituted heterocycle, substituted phenyl, etc .; Z represents alkylene, etc .; R2 represents carboxyl optionally blocked with alkyl, etc .; R3 represents an optionally blocked hydroxyl group; R4 is optionally substituted cycloalkyloxy; and R5 represents hydrogen, etc. Additionally, these compounds have an inhibitory effect on AP-1 activity, which makes them useful as preventatives and remedies for diseases in which AP-1 overexpression participates.
