PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy by arithmetically operating the mounting angle of a propulsion device in a shaft by a horizontal displacement surveyed by a target plate for measuring a position and a gyro rotational-angle data. ;SOLUTION: When the propulsion device is installed in a shaft at an initial angle α1 to a propulsion base line, a horizontal-displacement initial positional data X0 to the angle α1 is surveyed by a target-plate scale in the propulsion device by a transit. The propulsion device is propelled by L1, a horizontal displacement data X1 is surveyed similarly, and a correction angle θ1 is arithmetically operated by a gyro angle data and an inclinometer data, and the initial angle θ1 is inversely operated. The initial angles are arithmetically operated similarly at ever several stroke propulsion, and the obtained initial angles are statistically processed and the initial angle is computed in accuracy higher than the resolution of a target plate. Current places are detected continuously from the values of θ1 and θ1 in each propulsion stroke. Accordingly, the initial angles incapable of being measured by a gyro can be detected, and the errors of the initial angles can be reduced largely.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
