PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fuel operation method for a pressurized water reactor, capable of showing an examination guide proper for fuel operation of the pressurized water reactor to an analyzer and always obtaining economically optimum solutions. SOLUTION: The method comprises a process for selecting an index value of strong low degree of leaking in an allowable range of a low leakage index (= [total number of surfaces facing to core outside of n-times burned fuel at outermost perimeter]n), a process for determining the minimum number of fresh fuel assemblies fulfilling necessary operation period at a determined low degree of leaking, a process for exchanging part of succeeding fuel from next cycle in which excess reactivity is made zero in the case generating excess reactivity, to fuel selected among fuel taken out in the next cycle or tentatively stored fuel in past cycles, instead of being selected as tentatively stored fuel, a process for determining a loading pattern by loading the determined fresh fuel and exchanged fuel within the allowed range of low index of leaking and fulfilling safety of core, and a process for selecting the most economical loading pattern in a sequential cycle, succeeding the burnup of the succeeding fuel at each cycle end for the determined loading pattern.
