(57) [Abstract] The present invention is a quantitative method for measuring the consumption of the substrate in a reaction catalyzed by microorganisms. Present method, the substrate to be oxidized to the end of a predetermined, excess concentrated microorganisms and excess - comprises measuring the amount of reduction of the substrate - and co-incubating the sample substrate with the substrate. Present method, can be used for the rapid measurement of biological or toxic BOD of the sample substrate.
