PURPOSE: To provide a device for preventing the leakage of atmospheric gas in a continuous annealing furnace, in which the sealing effect is good and, even if the thickness and the width of a steel strip and the pressure in the furnace vary, fine adjustment can be executed. ;CONSTITUTION: In the atmospheric gas leakage preventing device 10 arranged at the inlet side and the outlet side of the steel strip 12 in the continuous annealing furnace 11 for heating and cooling the continuously traveling steel strip 12, the supply passage and the exhaust passage of supplied gas are provided and air-tight tubes 13, 14 freely expandable/contractable by pressure of the supplied gas are arranged so as to be faced to the front and the back surfaces of the continuously traveling steel strip 12. Further, pressure control valves 19, 20 respectively adjusting the inner pressures of the air-tight tubes 13, 14 are arranged at the exhaust passage sides of the air-tight tubes 13, 14.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
