PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the hardening distortion of a work of the uneven wall thickness when an inner circumferential surface of the work of the uneven wall thickness having a thin-walled portion and a thick- walled portion is induction hardened. SOLUTION: In the method for controlling the hardening distortion of the work of the uneven wall thickness which controls the hardening distortion by induction-hardening an inner surface of the work having the thin-walled portion and the thick-walled portion, the cooling solution is sprayed from an outer circumferential surface to only the thin-walled portion during the induction heating, and the spraying quantity of the cooling solution is minimized so that the thin-walled portion is not fully hardened.
