PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chiral nematic liquid crystal composition which indicates a prescribed selective reflection wavelength with hardly shifting it by atmospheric temperature variation and is further easily adjusted its dielectric anisotropy, a method for preparing the same, a liquid crystal display element and a multilayer liquid crystal display element.;SOLUTION: The method for preparing the chiral nematic liquid crystal composition is as follows: when mixing a nematic liquid crystal material, a first chiral material which shift a selective reflection wavelength to the direction of a long wavelength by affection of temperature and a second chiral material which shift a selective wavelength to the direction of a short wavelength by affection of temperature, the dielectric anisotropy can be adjusted by that, at least either of the first and second chiral materials varies a ratio of at least two chiral compounds used as its components and/or a ratio of at least two nematic liquid crystal mixtures used as components of the nematic crystal material is varied. The chiral nematic liquid crystal composition is prepared by the method. The liquid crystal display element and using this element of the multilayer liquid crystal display element use the liquid crystal composition.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
