PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high chromium ferritic steel combining toughness and high temp. strength in the heat affected zone after welding heat treatment. ;SOLUTION: This high chromium ferritic steel has a compsn. contg., by weight, 0.05 to 0.18% C, 0.1 to 0.5% Si, ≤0.2% Mn, ≤0.005% S, 0.5 to 3% Cu, 0.05 to 1% Ni, 10 to 13% Cr, 0.5 to 3% (Mo+W/2), 0.1 to 0.5% V, 0.05 to 0.25% Nb, 0.001 to 0.02% B, 0.003 to 0.04% Al and 0.04 to 0.15% N and furthermore contg.
