PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus applicable to a regenerative effect of a lead acid storage battery and accurately and consistently predicting a charge condition. PSOLUTION: The method is provided with a process for determining the charge condition based on a current. While or after the charge condition based on a voltage is determined, an open circuit voltage for transient behavior is compensated, a voltage shift generated by charging is considered and the open circuit voltage can be measured and/or calculated. A correlation of the open circuit voltage with the charge condition depends on an operation mode of the battery.
