PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel sheet for can, reduced in inplane anisotropy as well as in the occurrence of defects at the time of working for can manufacturing. ;SOLUTION: The steel sheet for can, reduced in defects and excellent in baking hardenability, has a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.01-0.10% C, 0.001-0.10% Si, 0.05-1.0% Mn, 0.001-0.050% P, 0.001-0.030% S, 0.0005-0.0060% N, 0.002-0.008% Sol.Al, 0.002-0.020% Ti, 0.0005-0.0020% of (solid-solution C + solid-solution N), and the balance iron with inevitable impurities and satisfying Ti (%) 3.43×N(%) and also has ≤150 μm average grain size. Moreover, as inclusions in the steel, this steel sheet contains oxide inclusions composed essentially of titanium oxides, manganese oxides, silicon oxides, and alumina, having 5-30% titanium oxides and 2-15% alumina, and also having ≤40% total content of titanium oxides and alumina.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
