PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve security in a fingerprint registering and collating system, a fingerprint registering device and a communication terminal carrying out personal authentication in the communication terminal.;SOLUTION: The fingerprint registering and collating system for the portable communication terminal includes a registration terminal 1 and the portable communication terminal 6. The registration terminal 1 and the portable communication terminal 6 are connected by a connection line 3. The registration terminal 1 and the portable communication terminal 6 are respectively provided with fingerprint sensors 27 and 4 for picking up fingerprint images. In the registration terminal 1, registration fingerprint data is generated based on the fingerprint image picked up by the fingerprint sensor 27, and it is sent to the portable communication terminal 6. Collation of a fingerprint in the portable communication terminal 6 is carried out by generating collation fingerprint data based on the fingerprint image picked up by the fingerprint sensor 4 and comparing it with the registration fingerprint data.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
