PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floor plan design support method for LSI, drawing up optimum and high-quality floor plan in a short time, and coping with a change in data and constraints without any large change.;SOLUTION: A strategy agent for monitoring the whole floor plan/a block agent provided for each functional block under its control to manage the position of the block is created, and when the strategy agent select a constraint on arrangement of blocks, each block agent generates a fitness function representing the fitness of the corresponding functional block to the constraint concerning each constraint as the function of the block position, compounds the functions, and disposes the functional block corresponding to the position with the highest fitness according to the compound fitness function. The strategy agent determines whether or not the necessary condition of the floor plan is satisfied after disposition, and if satisfied, the design of the floor plan is ended and if not, the constraint is again selected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
